“7 days a week, no paid holidays… no overtime pay” Neymar's side "did not receive official notification"

Brazilian soccer star Neymar

Suspicions arose that Brazilian soccer star Neymar, who played for French professional soccer team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) until early August, illegally hired housekeepers and made them work harshly.

According to the French daily Le Parisien on the 17th (local time), a Brazilian woman named Marcia (pseudonym) reported to the labor authorities that Neymar illegally employed her from January 2021 to October 2022.

Marcia requested a total of 368,000 euros (about 500 million won), including additional allowances that he did not receive, and said he would file a lawsuit if Neymar does not respond.

Marcia, an illegal immigrant, claimed that she first got a job as a kitchen assistant through Neymar's close associate Mauro when Neymar was preparing a big birthday party at his home in February 2019.

Afterwards, he claimed that Mauro asked him to "do Neymar's work more regularly," so he worked as a housekeeper at Neymar's house from January 2021 and even did the nails of his girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi.

His claim is that he worked 9 hours a day on weekdays, 6 hours of extra work on Friday and Saturday evenings, and 7 hours on Sundays, without any rest days or paid holidays. This far exceeds the standard working hours of 40 hours a week for domestic workers.

Marcia claimed that she received 15 euros per hour (about 20,400 won based on the exchange rate at the time) on weekdays, Fridays and Saturdays and double that amount on Sundays, but did not receive additional pay for overtime.

As of 2021, the minimum hourly wage in France was 8.11 euros (about 11,000 won) after tax.
